Five people died in rain-related incidents in Delhi Friday as Monsoon arrived with a fury early in the morning, lashing the city with its highest rainfall in a single day of June in 88 years which brought it to a standstill with streets flooded, traffic in chaos and some commuters stranded on roads.

At least 12 persons were injured, including two seriously, when two cranes collapsed at a Delhi Metro Railway Construction site in southern Delhi. The accident occurred on the Connaught Place-Gurgaon railway line.According to DMRC sources, the mishap occurred in the Said-ul-Ajaib area, which is located near the historical Qutub Minar. The injured have been rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Safdarjung Hospitals for treatment.

Five persons, including an engineer, were killed and 15 others injured when an under-construction over-bridge of the Delhi Metro collapsed on Sunday, in the second such incident in eight months. The accident took place as one of the pillars of the bridge gave in when a launcher was being erected close to Lady Sriram College in Jamrudpur in Lajpat Nagar at around 0500 hrs .
